ABSTRACT
Attempts to colonize the malaria and filariasis vector Anopheles barbarostris van der wulp in Vector Control Research Unit Boru laboratory, Wulanggitang subdistrict, East Florest, NTT had been succesfull. The minimum duration of the life cycle from egg to adult was about 10 days, but in general it was 16 – 21 days (average 18 days). Blood feeding was started two days after emergence and egg laying would occur two days later. The minimum time from emergence to first egg laying occupied 4 days and egg laying cycle occured every two days after the blood meals. To complete the cycle from egg to egg took a minimum of about 14 days. The Longevity of male and female mosquitoes in the laboratory colony was 24 days maximum, lethal time (Lt50) was 8 days for males and 16 days for females.
