In November 23 – 29, 2025, Universitas YARSI proudly announces that one of its Student Creativity Program (PKM) teams has successfully qualified for the 38th National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS) to be held at Hasanuddin University. The team, led by Amalia Shafira with members Dini Yetri, Astria, Annida, and Fara June from the Management program (S1), under the guidance of advisor Bu Alyta Shabrina, will present their innovative project titled “Ecolush: Inovasi Sabun Organik Berbasis Limbah Kulit Buah Naga dan Manggis Sebagai Solusi Kebersihan yang Ramah Lingkungan” (Ecolush: Organic Soap Innovation Based on Dragon Fruit and Mangosteen Peel Waste as an Environmentally Friendly Hygiene Solution). The project falls under the PKM-K (Student Creativity Program in Entrepreneurship) category and represents one of 420 projects selected nationwide from 170 participating universities.

This achievement aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 12 on Responsible Consumption and Production, and Goal 13 on Climate Action. By transforming fruit waste into valuable organic soap products, the team demonstrates innovative waste management and circular economy principles. The project not only addresses environmental concerns through waste reduction but also promotes sustainable entrepreneurship among students. Through participation in PIMNAS 38, Universitas YARSI contributes to building a generation of innovators committed to environmental sustainability and creative problem-solving, supporting Indonesia’s journey toward achieving the SDGs and realizing the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045.

In December, 2024, the Community Service Team from Universitas YARSI and Universitas Krisnadwipayana implemented an empowerment program for POKDAKAN (Fish Farmers Group) NaminaSang Farm & Co, a business unit of BUMDes Mandalamekar, located in Mandalamekar Village, Cimenyan District, Bandung Regency, West Java. This initiative was driven by various challenges faced by the catfish farming group, including limited capital, difficulty in determining selling prices and business profits, absence of financial reports, marketing constraints limited to middlemen at low prices (60% of market price), and minimal product variation resulting in low added value and turnover. The program employed methods of socialization, intensive training, technology application, field mentoring, and continuous evaluation encompassing four main focuses: catfish cultivation training using the 6M method (preparing ponds, testing water, sorting seeds, regulating feed, selecting culls, monitoring and harvesting), financial management and cost of goods sold calculation training, social media-based marketing training, and zero waste-based product differentiation training by creating processed products such as catfish nuggets, catfish meatballs, catfish dim sum, catfish floss, catfish skin crackers, catfish sticks, and liquid fertilizer from catfish waste. Program results demonstrated significant improvement with a 35% increase in participant understanding based on pre-test and post-test scores, up to 10% increase in product selling prices, up to 15% increase in turnover, and a 20-30% increase in harvest percentage through implementation of improved cultivation methods.

The POKDAKAN BUMDes Mandalamekar empowerment program aligns with the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across several key points: Goal 1: No Poverty by providing access to zakat-based capital and business management training to increase income for ultra-micro entrepreneurs in the fisheries sector; Goal 2: Zero Hunger through processed catfish products rich in protein, calcium, and phosphorus as a solution for Supplementary Feeding Programs (PMT) to prevent stunting among toddlers in Mandalamekar Village; Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by empowering fish farmer groups and youth organizations as agents of change creating sustainable business opportunities; Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production through implementation of zero waste principles in product differentiation that processes all parts of catfish including waste into economically valuable products such as skin crackers and liquid fertilizer, thereby reducing waste and environmental pollution; and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals through strategic collaboration among higher education institutions (Universitas YARSI and Universitas Krisnadwipayana), BUMDes, village government, and communities in creating a sustainable and environmentally friendly green economy empowerment ecosystem.

The YARSI University SDGs Center initiated a calorie sticker installation program on September 22, 2025, as a health promotion effort for the academic community. This program was motivated by the increasing sedentary lifestyle among the academic community who tend to prefer elevators over stairs in daily activities. This inactive lifestyle poses health risks such as decreased cardiovascular fitness, obesity, and non-communicable diseases. Through a creative and educational approach, calorie stickers were installed on all campus building stairs displaying information about the number of calories burned when using stairs. These stickers serve as visual reminders and motivation for the academic community to choose healthier alternatives in their daily mobility, transforming everyday behavior into opportunities for physical activity.

The calorie sticker installation program aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by promoting healthy lifestyles and preventing non-communicable diseases through increased physical activity, SDG 4 (Quality Education) by creating a healthy campus environment that enhances learning capacity and academic productivity, SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by encouraging sustainable mobility and reducing energy consumption from elevator use, and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) by promoting efficient use of campus facilities. Through this strategic intervention, the YARSI University SDGs Center demonstrates its commitment to creating a healthy and sustainable campus environment while contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals.

The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of YARSI University organized a Community Service Program (PKM) with the theme “Digital Transformation of Catfish Farming: IoT Solutions for Organizational Management, Finance, and Enhancement of Productivity and Quality of Sustainable Aquaculture” in Mandalamekar Village, Bandung Regency, West Java. This program was initiated in response to the condition of catfish farmer groups in the village who still operate their cultivation processes manually, resulting in low productivity, high fish mortality rates, and difficulties in maintaining harvest quality. Through this PKM BIMA DRTPM Kemendiktisaintek 2025 program, YARSI University introduced Internet of Things (IoT) technology solutions that enable real-time monitoring of water quality and feeding, making the cultivation process more efficient and sustainable.

The implementation of this program is a collaboration between the Faculty of Economics and Business and the Faculty of Information Technology at YARSI University, which not only introduces technology but also empowers the community through training in organizational development, financial management, marketing strategies, and strengthening farmer groups to become more independent and competitive. The Team Leader, Hilma Suyana, emphasized that this digital transformation simultaneously helps protect the environment and supports Asta Cita 3rd in creating employment and promoting entrepreneurship at the village level. This program aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 1 (No Poverty) through increased productivity and farmer income, SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) by enhancing sustainable food production, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through community economic empowerment, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) with IoT technology implementation, SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) through sustainable aquaculture, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration between university and community.

To commemorate World Earth Day 2025, the SDGs Center and Population Studies of YARSI University held a series of inspiring and educational activities from April 22 to May 3, 2025. This year’s theme, “Save the Earth, Save Ourselves,” emphasized the deep connection between environmental sustainability and human well-being.

The celebration began on April 22 with a variety of interactive campaigns:

Green Action: a campus-wide visual campaign featuring a large Earth Day banner and a photo challenge on Instagram to spread awareness and engagement.

EcoFrame: a social media initiative where participants used a themed twibbon and shared eco-friendly actions such as reducing plastic use, planting trees, or sorting waste.

EarthStory: creative competitions in digital content and poster design, encouraging participants to voice environmental concerns through short videos and visual design.

The highlight of the series was the EcoBalance Webinar, held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, via Zoom. With the theme “Taking Care of Yourself, Taking Care of the Earth,” this webinar featured Dr. Muhammad Faisal, S.E., M.S.Ak, who delivered an insightful talk on how self-care aligns with environmental responsibility. He emphasized that sustainable living begins with daily actions that benefit both individual health and the planet—such as responsible consumption, managing waste, and maintaining physical and mental well-being.

This entire series of activities directly supported several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:

SDG 3 – G
ood Health and Well-being: Promoting self-care and mental health awareness as part of sustainable living practices.

SDG 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production: Encouraging participants to adopt eco-conscious habits like reducing waste and consuming mindfully.

SDG 13 – Climate Action: Inspiring behavior changes that support environmental protection and climate change mitigation.

SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: Showcasing collaboration between the SDGs Center, Peer SDGs, and the university community to spread sustainability education.

Participants gained practical knowledge, e-certificates, and the chance to win door prizes. Their enthusiasm was reflected through active involvement in discussions, creative submissions, and social media participation.

Through this initiative, the SDGs Center aims to cultivate a generation of changemakers who care for themselves and the Earth, working together to create a healthier and more sustainable future.

Tangerang, February 16, 2025 – YARSI University Master of Biomedical Science Study Program held a community service event at Cluster Nusantara, Banjar Wijaya Housing, Tangerang City. This activity is themed “Improving Health, Economy, and Community Welfare through Innovations in Herbal Cultivation, Nutritious Catfish Processing, and Environmentally Friendly Solutions for Post-Pandemic Economic Recovery.” This activity aims to empower the surrounding community, especially cleaning and security officers, and increase the utilization of public facilities (fasum) for common welfare.

This activity is also in line with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on several important points that contribute to the creation of positive social change.

Poverty Reduction (SDG 1):
The event aims to improve the economic welfare of the surrounding community, especially those with low incomes, such as janitors and security guards in Cluster Nusantara. Through the development of herbal gardens and catfish farming, the local community can earn additional income by utilizing cultivated products that can be sold.

Creation of Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8):
By utilizing unused fasum land for herbal gardens and catfish farming, the program not only creates new income opportunities, but also opens up opportunities for communities to acquire new skills in plant cultivation and nutritious product processing. It also encourages the creation of a more sustainable and inclusive local economy.

Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12):
The utilization of environmentally friendly technologies, such as eco-enzymes and biopores, in the management of the herb garden, is part of the effort to support sustainable consumption and production. Communities are encouraged to produce and consume healthy and nutritious products that are not only beneficial for health, but also environmentally friendly.

In addition, this activity was also complemented by counseling on traditional herbal ingredients to improve health and immunity. YARSI University Master of Biomedical Science student, Neni Komariyah, provided knowledge to the community about the benefits of herbal medicine which has minimal side effects and serves to improve the function of body organs naturally.

Creating a Positive Impact for a Better Future
This activity not only provides economic benefits to the surrounding community, but also supports sustainable development through a science and technology-based approach. By involving students in this program, YARSI University plays an active role in educating the community while preparing the younger generation to be more concerned about sustainability issues.

Through this program, YARSI University hopes to make a real contribution to the achievement of SDGs, especially in poverty reduction, decent work creation, and responsible consumption and production. This activity is proof of the university’s commitment to creating a better, greener and more sustainable future for society.

As part of their Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) program in Sukapura, Cilincing, YARSI University students of group 34 focused on several key initiatives to improve community health and well-being. Held in November until December 2023, the program included activities such as Jumantik, aimed at monitoring and reducing the density of Aedes mosquito larvae to prevent the spread of dengue fever, hydroponic farming to promote sustainable food production, and reproductive health education to raise awareness among the community. These activities align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 2: Zero Hunger, and SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.

The Jumantik program aimed to control mosquito populations and reduce the risk of dengue transmission, while the hydroponic farming initiative provided residents with the knowledge and tools to grow their own food sustainably. The reproductive health sessions were designed to educate participants on important health issues, contributing to long-term community well-being. The program successfully engaged the local community, with participants showing a strong interest in applying the knowledge gained to improve their daily lives.
