On Wednesday, June 5, 2026, coinciding with World Environment Day (Hari Lingkungan Hidup Sedunia), Universitas YARSI with great enthusiasm conducted tree planting activities as part of the celebration of YARSI’s 59th Anniversary with the theme “Strengthen Environmental Awareness Through Sustainable Tree Planting Action”. This activity represents Universitas YARSI’s commitment to actively contribute to environmental conservation and increase awareness among the academic community about the importance of maintaining ecosystem sustainability. With enthusiastic participation, university leaders and various stakeholders engaged in symbolic tree planting activities that marked a perfect blend of institutional anniversary celebration and global commitment to environmental protection. The tree planting activity was conducted in a strategic area of Universitas YARSI campus, creating an atmosphere full of meaning with participants enthusiastically celebrating this historic moment. The selection of June 5, coinciding with World Environment Day, made this activity even more significant, as it not only celebrated the institution’s achievements over 59 years but also contributed to the global movement for awareness and concrete action in preserving the environment for future generations.

The tree planting activity conducted by Universitas YARSI on World Environment Day aligns with the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across several key points: Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production by promoting sustainable practices in natural resource management and increasing awareness about the environmental impacts of every institutional activity; Goal 13: Climate Action through tree planting that directly contributes to carbon dioxide absorption and greenhouse gas emission reduction, and increases ecosystem adaptation capacity to the impacts of climate change; Goal 15: Life on Land by restoring and enhancing terrestrial ecosystems through reforestation activities, protecting and promoting sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, managing forests sustainably, and combating land degradation; and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals through collective mobilization of Universitas YARSI academic community in environmental activities, integrating environmental commitment as part of institutional identity and values, and demonstrating the role of higher education institutions as change agents in encouraging society to take concrete action in maintaining environmental sustainability. This activity also reinforces the message of World Environment Day 2026 about the importance of collective action and shared responsibility in protecting our planet for the well-being of all living beings.

In February, 2026, The UI GreenMetric Regional Information Session was organized as part of UI GreenMetric’s ongoing commitment to strengthening sustainability initiatives across higher education institutions. The session was conducted in an interactive online format, beginning with welcome and opening remarks by Dr. Vishnu Juwono, S.E., MIA, Chairperson of UI GreenMetric, followed by a presentation session led by Dr. Abellia Anggi Wardani, S.Hum., M.A., Vice Chair of UI GreenMetric. The agenda included an overview of the UI GreenMetric Sustainable University Rankings, a highlight video titled “Our Work in Action,” an interactive Q&A session, and closing remarks by the MC. The session aimed to provide comprehensive insights into governance, digitalization, and integrated performance in advancing sustainable campuses, while also creating a platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange among participants. As a result, participants gained a deeper understanding of the ranking framework and strengthened their institutional commitment to implementing sustainable campus practices.

This activity aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing institutional capacity in sustainability implementation within higher education, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaboration and the sharing of best practices among universities. Furthermore, its emphasis on governance and digital transformation in sustainability performance supports SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), as universities play a strategic role within urban ecosystems in promoting responsible resource management and long-term environmental impact.

The Postgraduate School Faculty, Master’s Program in Hospital Administration at YARSI University has obtained an ESR (Event Sustainability Rating) Certificate with a 3-Star: Disclosure & Action predicate from Carbon Accounting. This achievement was earned through the program’s commitment to implementing sustainability principles in the “Hospital Risk Management in Disaster” event held at Al Quddus Auditorium, YARSI University on January 24, 2026. During the event, greenhouse gas emissions were calculated with a result of 1.71 tons of CO₂e, demonstrating the organizer’s seriousness in measuring and managing the environmental impact of the academic activities conducted. This emission calculation method encompassed all event organization activities, from energy consumption and participant transportation to the use of supporting materials for the event.

The achievement of the 3-Star ESR certification demonstrates that the organized activity aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 13 on Climate Action. By measuring and disclosing carbon emissions from academic activities, the Master’s Program in Hospital Administration at YARSI University actively contributes to global efforts to reduce climate change impacts through environmental transparency and accountability. Furthermore, this activity also supports SDGs point 12 on Responsible Consumption and Production, where organizing events that consider carbon footprint promotes more sustainable and responsible resource management practices in higher education
