Generated products—compost, POC, eco-enzyme, hand soap, floor cleaner, and medicinal and ornamental plants have been introduced to the community through Merdeka Bazaar and will expand marketing through social media and Universitas YARSI’s Herbal Research Center website currently under preparation, opening sustainable economic opportunities for the local community. The initiative supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through empowerment of sanitation workers and creation of organic product-based business opportunities, Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by transforming abandoned land into productive green space improving urban environmental quality, Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production through implementation of circular economy processing organic waste into high-value products, Goal 13: Climate Action through waste reduction and increased urban greening, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals through collaboration among higher education institutions, local communities, various faculties (Medicine, Information Technology), and other stakeholders in building inclusive sustainable development models. Through this initiative, Universitas YARSI demonstrates its concrete commitment to translating academic knowledge into concrete action benefiting environment, community, and local economy sustainably.

The “Empowered Women with TOGA” program emphasizes the urgency of building a holistic community empowerment ecosystem, combining health, education, technology, and economic aspects in one integrated initiative. The activity included educational presentations, hands-on TOGA planting practices guided by Gabriella Arifin, and introduction of the Digital Herbal Plant Encyclopedia through the Museum Herbal platform a collaboration between Universitas YARSI and Vijja Care to facilitate public access to information on Indonesia’s herbal plant wealth digitally. High participant enthusiasm, demonstrated through active discussions and interactions, indicates the program’s success in raising community awareness and interest in utilizing TOGA in daily life. The program supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being by promoting chronic disease prevention through natural and sustainable herbal plant utilization, Goal 5: Gender Equality with focus on women empowerment through herbal-based economic opportunities, Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production by encouraging sustainable agricultural practices at household level, Goal 13: Climate Action through utilization of local plants and reduced dependence on synthetic products, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals through cross-sectoral collaboration among higher education institutions, communities, and business partners in creating sustainable empowerment models. The Indonesia’s SDGs Action Awards 2026 initiative emphasizes the urgency of accelerating and scaling up sustainable development actions at the national and local levels to meet the ambitious 2030 SDGs targets. This awards program is designed to serve as a platform for recognizing, celebrating, and disseminating best practices and innovative solutions from diverse stakeholders who are actively contributing to sustainable development, thereby inspiring broader participation and replication of successful models across Indonesia. The initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goals across all 17 points by specifically recognizing concrete actions in poverty reduction, health improvement, quality education, gender equality, clean energy, economic growth, sustainable industry, infrastructure development, reduced inequalities, sustainable cities, responsible consumption, climate action, life on land, peace and justice, and global partnerships. The awards program also supports Goal 4: Quality Education by showcasing educational innovations and best practices, Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by highlighting economic empowerment initiatives, Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production through recognition of sustainable practices, Goal 13: Climate Action by promoting climate-related solutions, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals by bringing together multiple stakeholders in collaborative efforts toward sustainable development. The presentation delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry of Universitas YARSI on Sustainable Village Based Development at IDSSC University of Malaya aligns with the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across several key points: Goal 1: No Poverty through the application of appropriate technology that increases productivity and income of village communities; Goal 2: Zero Hunger by developing sustainable agricultural systems and food security at the village level; Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being through improved access to basic health services and disease prevention in village communities; Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy through the introduction and implementation of renewable energy technology suited to village conditions; Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by developing sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient village development models; Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production by promoting efficient and environmentally friendly resource management practices in village communities; Goal 13: Climate Action through implementation of technology and practices that reduce emissions and increase village community adaptation to climate change impacts; and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals through international collaboration between higher education institutions in Indonesia and Malaysia in research, development, and knowledge dissemination on sustainable village development that can be replicated in various developing countries.

By measuring and disclosing carbon emissions from academic activities, the Master’s Program in Hospital Administration at YARSI University actively contributes to global efforts to reduce climate change impacts through environmental transparency and accountability. Furthermore, this activity also supports SDGs point 12 on Responsible Consumption and Production, where organizing events that consider carbon footprint promotes more sustainable and responsible resource management practices in higher education
