COMMUNITY SERVICE CENTER

ABOUT

YARSI Village Empowerment Center is a Community Service center under the leadership of the Deputy Chancellor III for Community Service, where the Community Service activity unit is at the University level which was established in 2009 with Chancellor's Decree No. 0035/REK/KEP/IX/2009 concerning the Establishment of the YARSI Village Empowerment Center.

The establishment of the YARSI Village Empowerment Center was to carry out rural empowerment for underprivileged communities with the aim of creating an independent community.

Village community empowerment is an effort to develop community independence and welfare by increasing knowledge, attitudes, skills, behavior, abilities, awareness, and utilizing resources through establishing policies, programs, activities and assistance that are in accordance with the essence of the problems and priority needs of village communities.

Empowering rural communities is actually an effort to change community behavior patterns to increase capability and independence through four aspects:

  1. Social protection
  2. Capacity increase
  3. Accessibility improvements
  4. Utilization of local potential

To implement all community empowerment policies, the main factor that must be implemented is identifying what the community needs through assessment and development.

YARSI Village Empowerment Center considers it necessary to encourage and facilitate lecturers to carry out community service. So far there are a number of community service opportunities that can be utilized by the community around the assisted village environment.

Vision:

To become an Islamic Higher Education Institution that cares about rural empowerment through community service activities by encouraging community independence that is able to independently overcome problems that occur.

Mission:

One of the missions that must be carried out by the YARSI Village Empowerment Center at YARSI University is to carry out community service (PkM) with two things, namely:

  1. As an embodiment, the role and responsibility of the YARSI Village Empowerment Center is to participate in making the nation's life smarter.
  2. As implementation and dissemination to the community of various research/study findings conducted by the YARSI Village Empowerment Center. On the other hand, community service in the assisted villages is one of the main tasks and functions that must be carried out by lecturers, as functional staff in universities. Departing from these two phenomena, community service must be placed in an important position and become a priority such as learning and research activities in the villages supported by the YARSI Empowerment Center at YARSI University.

Objectives

This community service program has the aims and objectives to:

  1. Facilitate and expand assisted villages to carry out community service in order to fulfill their duties and functions in the field of community service.
  2. Apply and disseminate research/study results to the community as part of efforts to empower and improve the quality of life of the community.
