YARSI University is obliged to implement the Tridharma of Higher Education, including the dharma of research, which is directed at developing science and technology, as well as improving community welfare and the nation's competitiveness. To carry out these obligations, the Yarsi University Research, Publication and IPR Division oversees the YARSI University Research Institute (LPUY) which is tasked with carrying out research dharma by coordinating, monitoring and evaluating various research activities carried out by lecturers both internally and externally. LPUY strives to encourage and facilitate lecturers and researchers to be able to carry out research activities so that they are able to compete in the national and international realm by establishing superior research driven by study centers within LPUY, Yarsi University.

LPUY is chaired by the ex officio Vice Chancellor II, who is assisted in his coordination by the Faculty Research Coordinator. In accordance with the YARSI University Statutes of February 2016, there are 6 research study centers at LPUY which are located on the 11th floor of the YARSI Tower. In accordance with government regulations, LPUY is an institution that is the place to manage research administratively, provide and manage research facilities, including in Inside is an integrated research laboratory and e-health laboratory facilities. LPUY also manages various research journals and is a center for managing IPR (Intellectual Property Rights), research ethics committees and to help achieve the vision and mission. The facilities and infrastructure that can be used by the study center in carrying out its research are found in an integrated laboratory at Yarsi University.

The Research, Publication and IPR Sector, Yarsi University is committed to improving the quality and culture of research through increasing internal research, superior and competitive research to the national or international level including developing research products, designs, obtaining IPR (copyrights, brands and patents), publication in journals nationally and internationally reputable, bulletins, indexed proceedings, textbooks, or research services, which are beneficial for researchers, institutions, institutions and society. In 2016, Yarsi University's research performance achieved a ranking or level MAIN from the results of the ranking or grouping of higher education research performance carried out by the KEMENRISTEKDIKTI.

In 2018, the Research, Publication and IPR Sector in managing research, publications and IPR has established 8 standards accompanied by SOPs (Standard Operation Procedures) which are in accordance with KEMENRISTEKDIKTI regulations regarding management of the research sector. These standards include: Results Standards, Content Standards, Process Standards, Assessment Standards, Researcher Standards, Facilities and Infrastructure Standards, Management Standards, Funding and Financing Standards. By establishing standards and SOPs, it is hoped that research management will be more focused and its quality guaranteed.

LPUY has 9 leading university research areas, all of which lead to the health sector. Five leading areas of research related to the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Postgraduate Biomedicine, namely Herbal, Stem Cell, Genetics, Telomeres and Halal. Meanwhile, superior research related to the Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Information Technology, Faculty of Psychology, and Faculty of Law focuses on research in the health sector, namely Health Economics/Sharia research, Health Informatics (e-Health), Health Psychology, and the field of Economic Law.

There are currently 6 superior research centers under one management by the YARSI University Research Institute and led by the head of the study center, namely:

  1. Genomics/Genetics Research Center
  2. Halal Research Center
  3. Herbal Research Center
  4. Stem Cell Research Center
  5. Telomere Research Center/Life Expectancy (Longevity)
  6. e-Health Research Center.

The synergy of the work of lecturers, researchers, research assistants and students in research has resulted in articles being published in accredited national journals/reputable international journals/proceedings/scientific seminars at national or international level, obtaining IPR (copyrights, patents), and utilized in the completion of The student's final project is in the form of a thesis or thesis. Research-related Human Resources consist of Lecturers, Researchers, Research Assistants, Technicians and Students. 

For lecturers, research activities and grants follow the lecturer's academic position while student involvement in research is in accordance with the student's final assignment or research of interest to the student or research in the Student Creativity Program (PKM) assignment. Research funding sources are obtained from internal research grants (support from the Yarsi Foundation), external grants (KEMENRISTEKDIKTI or LPDP KEMENKEU) or independently. 

In order to increase research output and achievements, Yarsi University can provide incentives for articles published in reputable national/international journals and incentives for submitting copyrights and incentives for obtaining patents.

Yarsi University currently has printed and electronic scientific journals managed by the Research Institute and published by Yarsi University, namely: Yarsi Medical Journal, ADIL Journal, Psychogenesis Journal, Yarsi Information Technology Journal, Journal of Economics and Business ASEANomics, Pharmamedika Health Magazine and Sainstekes Magazine. Several of these journals have been registered in the Sinta DIKTI journal indexation and will continue to be improved until they get an accredited index ranking (Sinta1 and Sinta 2).

Research performance assessment indicators for accreditation and ranking of higher education institutions by BAN-PT assess that research results are not only published in accredited national scientific journals and reputable international journals, but also the acquisition of IPR (Intellectual Rights) and other outcomes. IPR is important to protect all scientific work or academic work of lecturers. Higher education rankings must always be maintained and developed, one important effort is to encourage researchers to register all lecturers' scientific and academic work in obtaining IPR. Yarsi University, with support from the Yarsi Foundation, encourages researchers and research assistants to obtain IPR through the IPR center under the Research Institute.

Research collaboration is also carried out by study centers under research institutions at both national and international levels, either between universities or as part of an organization or part of a consortium. such as, Airlangga University, Gadjah Mada University, University of Indonesia, Pasar Rebo Regional Hospital, Sitanala Hospital, Dr. RSJ. Soeharto Heerdjan Grogol, and RSJ Islam Klender. Foreign Agencies include Research Institutes, Universities, Scientific Communities and Government such as the Genome Institute of Singapore, University of Tokyo, Kanazawa University, Perdana University Center of Bioinformatics, NIH, SEAPHARM, Ministry of Public Health of Thailand, University of Sabah Malaysia, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia , IPB and others. This collaboration is realized in the form of joint research collaboration, joint publications, joint holding of international seminars and workshops.
