At the International Dental Student Summer Camp (IDSSC) 2024, held in Batusangkar, West Sumatra, the Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas YARSI (FKGUY) achieved an exceptional feat, securing a gold medal in the prestigious poster category. This accomplishment came after months of dedicated preparation from a team of 16 dental students from both undergraduate and professional programs. The students were guided by their mentors, Dr. Wastuti and Drg. Djuned Prasonto, Sp.KGA, who provided valuable insights and support throughout the process.
The IDSSC 2024 was a significant event aimed at strengthening the collaboration between Indonesian and international dental students. It also created an opportunity for knowledge sharing and technology exchange in the field of dentistry. A vital component of the event was the community outreach initiative, which included dental health screenings and educational activities at six elementary schools in Batusangkar. These activities benefitted over 380 students, promoting better awareness of oral hygiene and dental care.
The victory in the poster category was a proud moment for FKGUY and Drg. Djuned expressed hopes for continued success in future competitions. The win highlighted the university’s commitment to excellence in dental education and community service, and the collaboration fostered through events like IDSSC contributes significantly to both the academic growth of students and the well-being of the communities they serve.
