The event, featuring Prof. Dr. Fasli Jalal, Ph.D., Rector of Universitas Yarsi, explored the challenges and opportunities in Indonesian education amid the digital era. Prof. Jalal emphasized the importance of developing hard and soft skills, character, and values to achieve the “Golden Indonesia” goal, which aims for 60% of the population to hold higher education degrees. The discussion also highlighted issues such as the uneven distribution of educational funding, insufficient training and compensation for teachers, and the need for utilizing technologies like AI for diagnosing learning disabilities and personalizing education.
Furthermore, the speakers stressed the necessity for ongoing learning and development for educators, as well as the integration of health, psychology, and technology in the future of education. Personal experiences were shared about work-life balance and staff engagement. The younger generation is encouraged to reflect on themselves, remain open to new opportunities, and contribute to the nation’s future by leveraging the foundation built by previous generations. This aligns closely with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education, as the event underscores the importance of inclusive, quality education and equitable access for all, which is central to SDG 4.
