IPB University and ICMI Held National Economic Deliberation Webinar: The Urgency of Building National Education to Enhance Indonesia’s Human Capital Competitiveness

In June, 30 2026, IPB University in collaboration with ICMI (Indonesian Muslim Scholars Association) organized “Webinar Series 7: National Economic Deliberation Towards Prosperous Indonesia 2045” with the theme “Building National Education to Enhance Indonesia’s Regional Human Capital Competitiveness” as a response to the urgency of building a national education system capable of improving the quality of Indonesian human resources. This activity addresses increasingly complex global challenges that require comprehensive education development strategies based on Islamic values and modern science. This webinar features high-caliber speakers, namely Prof. dr. Fasli Jalal, Ph.D. (Rector of Universitas YARSI) and Prof. Dr. Solehuddin (Rector of Indonesia University of Education/UPI Bandung), who will discuss strategic perspectives on the role of education in preparing Indonesian human resources that are competitive at regional and global levels. The webinar is moderated by Dr. Ir. Apendi Arsyad (Vice Secretary of MPP Expert Council ICMI) who will guide in-depth discussion on national education policies and their implementation to enhance human capital competitiveness. The webinar opening is presented by Prof. Dr. Irfan Syauqi Beik (Dean of FEM IPB University) who will provide context on the relationship between education, economics, and sustainable national development.

The National Economic Deliberation Webinar program emphasizes the urgency of building a national education strategy capable of improving Indonesia’s human capital quality in facing regional and global competition towards the vision of Prosperous Indonesia 2045. This activity is designed to present strategic dialogue among leading education leaders on policies and implementation of education development aligned with national economic needs and Islamic values. Through this forum, Universitas YARSI through Rector Prof. dr. Fasli Jalal actively contributes to national discourse on Indonesia’s future education that is higher quality, inclusive, and sustainable. This webinar supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Goal 4: Quality Education by presenting comprehensive discussion on national education development strategies responsive to economic and social needs, Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through development of quality and competitive human resources, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals through collaboration among higher education institutions, Muslim scholars organizations, and other stakeholders in formulating sustainable education policies oriented to improving the quality of life of Indonesian people.
