Public Dialogue: Promoting Intergenerational Action Toward a Low-Carbon and Green Economy Ministry of PPN/Bappenas

On May 8, 2025, the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas held a public dialogue event “Shaping Tomorrow: Intergenerational Action Toward a Low-Carbon and Green Economy” at Meeting Room DH 3-5, Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, as well as hybridly via Zoom. The event aimed to strengthen cross-generational collaboration in low-carbon development, with a focus on achieving Net Zero Emissions (NZE) by 2060. Attended by a wide range of stakeholders, including officials, academics, and youth, the event featured panel discussions and active participation sessions that provided important insights on steps towards a green economy.

The session materials covered challenges and opportunities in Indonesia’s transition to a low-carbon and green economy, national strategies outlined in the 2025–2045 Long-Term Development Plan (RPJPN), and the significant role of youth in promoting sustainable development. The Vice Minister of National Development Planning emphasized intergenerational collaboration through the penta-helix approach, while the Deputy Minister highlighted youth contributions in innovation, green entrepreneurship, and public policy advocacy. Additional materials also outlined Indonesia’s roadmap for achieving NZE by 2060 through sectoral strategies and inclusive, sustainable economic transformation.

The event was aligned with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:

  1. SDG 13: Climate Action – This dialog supports concrete action on climate change and the achievement of NZE.
  2. SDG 4: Quality Education – The event educates the younger generation about sustainable development and the green economy.
  3. SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals – Enhance international partnerships in the face of climate change.
  4. SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth – Promote inclusive and sustainable green economic growth.
  5. SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities – Provide a platform for youth from diverse backgrounds to contribute to sustainable development.
