On Thursday, June 25, 2026, the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas) organized the “SDGs Center Conference 2026” with the theme “Strengthening the Role of SDGs Center: Promoting Local Action for National SDGs Achievement and Global Partnership” held online through linktr.ee/SCC_2026 and Bappenas RI SDGs Indonesia Live Streaming. The event, which began at 09.00 WIB, featured national-level speakers and resource persons, including Prof. Dr. Ir. Rachmat Pambudy, M.S (Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas) who provided opening remarks, Prof. Brian Yuliarto, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D (Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology) with keynote remarks, and Ali S. Taher, MS, Ph.D (Head of National SDGs Secretariat at PPN/Bappenas) who reported on activities. Bayu Arie Fianto, Ph.D (President of Indonesia SDGs Center Network/ISCN) reported on the development of SDGs Center activities, while Teni Widurianti, SE., M.A. (Secretary of PPN/Secretary General of Bappenas) provided closing remarks. The conference consisted of two main strategic sessions: Panel Discussion on “Academic Leadership as Center of Excellence Driving SDGs Achievement Acceleration” featuring Prof. dr. Khairul Humadi, S.T., M.Eng (Director of Higher Education Risk Ministry of Education), Prof. Dr. Ir. Nunuing Nuriyartono, M.Si (Deputy for Institutional Affairs of BRIN), Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc (Rector of Hasanuddin University), and Claudia Primawari (Officer of Shared Value Creation at PT Telkom Indonesia) moderated by Endang Suiastri, S.Sos., S.AP (Director of Higher Education at PPN/Bappenas), and Academic Dialog “Shaping Perspectives on the Beyond-2030 Sustainable Development Agenda” featuring Leonardo A. A. T. Semiado, Sc. Ph.D (Deputy for Cross-Sectoral Issues at PPN/Bappenas), Prof. Dr. techn. Djoko Siswanto, S.T., M.Si (Acting Rector of Pertamina University), and Prof. Zuzzy Anna (Chair of SDGs Center at Padjadjaran University) moderated by Yanuar Nugroho, Ph.D (SDGs Expert). The event was supported by Telkom Indonesia and Pertamina as strategic partners in sustainable development commitment.
The SDGs Center Conference 2026 organized by the Ministry of PPN/Bappenas aligns with the achievement of all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the context of strengthening the role of higher education institutions as centers of excellence in driving the acceleration of national SDGs achievement towards SDG Summit 2027. The conference specifically supports Goal 4: Quality Education by enhancing the leadership role of academics in sustainable development research and policy development, creating a learning ecosystem that encourages innovation and solutions for global development challenges; Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure through collaboration between academic institutions, private sector (Telkom, Pertamina), and government in promoting innovation and technology transfer for sustainable development; Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions by strengthening the role of institutions in advocating sustainable policies and accountability in SDGs implementation; Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals through multi-stakeholder collaboration among government ministries, higher education institutions (Hasanuddin University, Pertamina University, Padjadjaran University, and State University of Manado), SDGs Center networks throughout Indonesia, and the private sector in formulating strategies to accelerate national SDGs achievement and preparing Indonesia’s positioning and development agenda beyond 2030. The conference also demonstrates the commitment of the Indonesian government and academia in strengthening global partnerships and local action to achieve inclusive, equitable, and beneficial sustainable development for all stakeholders at national, regional, and global levels.
