Universitas YARSI Helds NGISI Session: The Urgency of Understanding Sharia-Compliant Hedging Transactions in Exchange Rate Risk Management

In 2024, Universitas YARSI organized “NGISI (Ngaji Integrasi Sains dan Islam/Integration of Science and Islam Study) YARSI 56th Session” with the theme “Sharia-Compliant Hedging Transactions on Exchange Rate” as a response to the urgency of providing deep understanding to the academic community about exchange rate protection mechanisms in the context of Islamic principles. This activity addresses the increasingly complex challenges of global economics and exchange rate market volatility that require financial solutions that are not only technically effective but also compliant with Islamic values. Speaker Dr. Chandra Yusuf, S.H., LL.M., M.B.A., M.Mgt. (Head of Notary Master’s Program at Universitas YARSI) will explain legal and Islamic finance aspects of hedging transactions, connecting modern economic theory with Islamic muamalat principles. Moderator Amir Mahmud, Lc., LL.M. (Lecturer of Faculty of Law at YARSI) will guide in-depth interactive discussion about practical implications of Sharia-compliant hedging instruments in the context of Indonesian business and investment. The event is open to academicians, students, legal practitioners, and finance professionals who wish to enhance their understanding of financial solutions compliant with Sharia principles in managing exchange rate risks.

The NGISI YARSI 56th program emphasizes the urgency of building community capacity in understanding and implementing Sharia-compliant hedging instruments relevant to Indonesia’s modern economic needs.
