The Computer Science Program team of Universitas YARSI achieved remarkable success by winning 3rd Place (3rd Place) in the Health Track category at the international Garuda Hacks 7.0 hackathon competition held for 30 hours straight. This achievement is remarkable given the international scale of the competition with 568 participants from prestigious universities such as University of Indonesia, ITB, Harvard University, and National University of Singapore, demonstrating the competence and competitive ability of YARSI students on the international stage. The team, consisting of Muhammad Rizal Anditama Nugraha (Team Lead & AI Developer, 6th Semester) and Aidan Pitra Habibie (Front-end Developer, 4th Semester), surpassed dozens of other teams through a rigorous judging process by 49 technical and non-technical judges in live pitching. The innovation they developed is called “SuaraNafas”, a Tuberculosis (TB) screening application based on multimodal artificial intelligence using an Acoustic Epidemiology approach to analyze users’ cough voice profiles through smartphone microphones in real-time and provide TB risk assessment quickly and non-invasively. The application’s strength lies in its design that has been integrated with SatuSehat (national e-health platform) and equipped with Explainable AI features in the form of an LLM chatbot capable of translating AI clinical and acoustic diagnostic results into language easily understood by the general public, making this solution highly relevant to current e-health technology development.

Universitas YARSI students’ achievement emphasizes the urgency of building an ecosystem of health technology (e-health) innovation based on artificial intelligence to improve access to diagnostics and disease prevention in society. The “SuaraNafas” innovation represents a genuine effort to integrate cutting-edge AI technology with Indonesia’s public health needs, particularly in early detection of tuberculosis which remains a national health challenge. The success of YARSI students also demonstrates Universitas YARSI’s commitment to encouraging research, innovation, and development of applicable health technology with positive impact on society. This achievement supports Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being by developing technology solutions that improve access to communicable disease diagnostics, support early detection, and reduce public health burden, Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure through development of innovative and measured AI-based e-health applications, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals through collaboration among students, educational institutions, and national health platforms in creating inclusive and sustainable health technology solutions. This achievement is expected to spur enthusiasm for research collaboration, artificial intelligence innovation, and health technology development within Universitas YARSI and inspire other students to contribute to solving public health challenges through technological innovation.
