Universitas YARSI Contributes to Public Dialogue on Young Doctors’ Protection and Civil Servants’ Performance Evaluation

On Wednesday, July 24, 2026, Prof. Dr. CHandra Agus Yoga Aditama, Sp.P(K) (Professor of Medical Science and Head of Postgraduate Program at Universitas YARSI) participated as an expert speaker in tvOne’s live streaming program “One on One” with Hotman Paris Hutapea, discussing two strategic issues reflecting the urgency of reforms in Indonesia’s health and civil service systems. The first half of the discussion addressed the sensitive issue of a young doctor intern’s death in Lampung, a case that highlights serious concerns about excessive workload and insufficient protection for young doctors in practicing their profession. Prof. Chandra’s presence as a professor of medical science is highly relevant to provide deep medical perspective on the mental and physical health conditions of young doctors who frequently experience burnout due to disproportionate workload. Through this opportunity, Universitas YARSI demonstrated its commitment to providing objective scientific input on professional health issues requiring serious attention from government and health institutions, while encouraging constructive dialogue for improving healthcare worker protection systems. The second half discussion involving Ahmad Doli Kurnia Tanjung (Member of Commission 2 of the Indonesian Parliament from Golkar Faction) addressed the revision of the Civil Service Law with the aim to implement stricter performance evaluation of the State Civil Apparatus, showing legislative efforts in enhancing accountability and professionalism of national bureaucracy.

Prof. Chandra Yoga Aditama’s participation from Universitas YARSI in this public dialogue emphasizes the urgency of building a comprehensive protection system for healthcare workers, particularly young doctors who are in the early stages of their careers and often face excessive pressure and workload. This activity is designed to raise public and policymakers’ awareness about the importance of reform in the health system, including mental health protection, more equitable workload management, and institutional support for young doctors. Universitas YARSI’s contribution to this public forum supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being by promoting healthy and safe working conditions for healthcare workers, Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through advocacy for improving working conditions of health professionals, Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions by promoting civil service law revision to enhance bureaucratic accountability, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals through collaboration among higher education institutions, mass media, and legislators in building a more just, transparent, and sustainable health and civil service system. Through this role, Universitas YARSI positions itself as an institution responsive to social issues and actively contributing to better public policy development.
